SquarePlug SP400 Low Profile Pedal Board Patch Cable

Pancake plugs have become the connector of choice for guitar effects pedals and pedalboard rigs due to their space saving design. The classic design introduced by Switchcraft in the 60’s just works and has stood the test of time so it would take some real innovation for us to take notice and add something new to our line-up of firmly established brands. We believe KMMK Solutions based in France have done just that in their low profile SP400 ¼” TS pancake plug which brings a new level of utility and rig build options for guitar players.

The design of SP400 is significantly smaller than the classic Switchcraft 228 design making for an extremely compact design particularly well suited for packed pedalboards and switching systems. The internal design has been well thought out for excellent solderability and strain relief which are the foundations for a long lasting and reliable cable.

The compact design of the SP400 connectors mean it has to use a small diameter cable between 3.8mm to 4.6mm. A number of cable options exist for SP400 and after careful consideration based on cable brands with established reputations, we chose Mogami 2314 and silver plated Van Damme Pro Patch for their high quality, flexibility and low capacitance. The flexibility of the cable allows it to be bent and twisted in all sorts of directions and shapes without it feeling forced like larger diameter cables. The cables low capacitance of 110 pF/m and 95 pF/m outperforms most if not all other professional brands in the small diameter category and is terminated with Kester silver solder, this assurers the most transparent signal transmission and highest quality we can offer our customers.

Standard and Custom SquarePlug SP400 Options

We offers this cable in two variants, the classic ‘U’ shape with two SP400 connectors facing the same direction in the typical patch cable configuration. The second option is a reverse ‘S’ shape to offer more connection orientations and solutions for devices where the ‘U’shape won’t work. The cable is available in standard lengths from 5cm to 50cm through our website as well as custom length options when you contact us with your specifications. We hand solder using the finest tools, quality inspect and test each and every cable here in Perth.
